     Why I Started Blogging

I have always had a passion for Photography and writing. What better way to merge the two than on a blog! Truth is- I have been an oilfield wife for sixteen years. With that comes a whole lot of life experiences. Throw in motherhood and everyday life and I feel like I have a whole lot of wisdom to share.

Blogging gives me a chance to connect with other women who are going through the same trials and triumphs I am. Our husbands are gone for weeks and months at a time and the majority of us have to put our big girl panties on and handle pretty much everything on our own for most of the year, while our husbands are sacrificing the precious moments with their families to provide a good life for us.

It’s rough and it’s raw but when you have a place you can go and feel like someone just gets it, it makes it a little bit easier. I created my blog for that exact reason. Not to mention I think it saves my sanity at times.

Blogging gives me not only an outlet to give my thoughts out there but it allows me to express myself freely. I can share the good, the bad and everything in between. I feel like it gives me purpose.

blogging, oilfield, liebster award   10 Random facts about me

1.) I am the only girl. I have three older brothers.  Which is ironic since I am still the only girl in my family now. My husband and my boys outnumber me but I am the Queen.

2.) I’m obsessed with Pioneer Women. I LOVE her. Although I bought her pan set and was super excited about the cast iron skillet only to be super disappointed that it was like four inched wide.

3.) I love wrestling. I got my boys into it 4 years ago on a whim to get them into an extracurricular not knowing just how much I would fall in love with it. Watching my boys battle it out on the mat while learning life lessons makes my heart full. Seeing their dedication and dignity no matter if they win or lose is something special.

4.) I love makeup. I like doing makeup challenges in social media groups. It’s amazing how talented some people are! Although when my hubbys on hitch I don’t like to wear it unless I have to be in public.

5.) Photography is my 1st love. I have always been captivated by the ability to freeze time and capture life’s precious moments.

6.) I’m an introvert and extremely shy. I want to be social without all the socialness if that makes sense. Although I crave conversation. Like meaningful tell me your dreams and passions, what craziness you’ve endured in your life that made you who you are today, not like hows the weather? I hate small talk.

7.)  I grew up in a decent size town in Kansas and eventually found our way settled in a very small town in Oklahoma. I have land but as of now, I only have chickens and 3 dogs. I hope to have horses, goats and maybe a cow or two someday.(:

8.) Christmas is my favorite holiday. Something about the lights, the magic in the air or maybe its because people just seem to be better people this time of year. Too bad some didn’t choose to be better all year.

9.) I had cancer six years ago and although we caught it early, my doctor insisted I have a hysterectomy. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t regret that decision. I wish I would have gotten a second opinion.

10.)  Last but not least I don’t listen to music often for “fun” but I dig it when I’m doing anything labor intensive. Cleaning, working out…. Anything(:  (this was a bit hard to put together this list LOL)

My answers to Megan from Ishmom questions:

1. If your blog (or other creative endeavor) became wildly lucrative, but it meant you had to keep creating the same content for the next twenty years, would you do it?

* Hmmm, I think I would have to say yes. I love to create and to connect with like-minded people. So if it meant I could do what I love and make an excellent profit from it then thats a win win for me!

2.  Based on the reality that your first celebrity crush is your current spouse, what is the most annoying thing about being married to them?

*Omg, Well I had to think really hard about this. I have to say I was obsessed with the Backstreet boys when I was little. Nick Carter was every young girl in the 90s heartthrob as embarrassing as that is. I think if he were my spouse today the thing that would annoy me the most is his voice. I may have swooned over it in the 90s but it totally makes me cringe now.liebster award

3.If you had to pick (for life) between cutting your hair/messing with your appearance or experiencing a shady rebound period after heartbreak, which would you choose?

*Hands down I would be fine with changing/messing with my appearance. I do it already anyway. I’m constantly cutting/dying my hair different colors. It’s a way I like to express myself.

4. Do you believe in ghosts? Why or why not?

*Yes. I went through a crap ton of paranormal activity when I was little and a few different incidents when I was older. I don’t know if it were necessarily “ghost” or demons. Either way it gave me the damn creeps.

5. Tell me about a Christmas tradition you’ve created as an adult. Please?

Wine. Wine for everybody!  Nightly all threw the holidays. (of age of coarse) LOL I am not really sure. We do gingerbread houses, Elf (wishing I could take that one back) and make homemade salt dough ornaments, does that count?

6. What’s a moment in your life in which you paused and thought, “Remember this?”

Remember this as in deja vu or damn, I really need to remember this moment? Deja vu had to hve been when I got smacked across the head with a sippy cup while dead asleep from my last child. The SAME thing happened from ALL of my boys. I pretty much went threw the last 10 years with bruises all over my face. I guess that could count for Remember this moment too. They owe me for keeping them alive…….I’ll remind them of this incident when they start to bring girls home.

7. If it were actually true that changing your location could bring you happiness, but you had to keep moving until you found it, would you do it?

  • Definitely. But if you choose to see the happiness in the day to day it doesn’t matter where you are. Happiness is a choice and you have to choose it every day.

8. Would you rather always forget other people’s names or have them always forget yours?

I giggled when I read this one because I am HORRIBLE at remembering peoples names. I wish I could remember but I just can’t. So forget mine all you want!

9. If you could purchase one thing, solely for convenience or vanity, regardless of cost, what would it be?

Does it have to be one thing? hmmm. Okay, I am going to say a fully stocked private island. I will purchase it as a whole package so it counts as one thing. (:

10. What are you most looking forward to in 2019?

A much-needed vacation. I am ready to have a week away just the hubby and I relaxing our stress away. Then a vaca with our boys. All mommas know it’s not really a vacation for us when we bring the kiddos along especially if you have littles. Its fun but its work.
